Borrego Springs Aerobatic Box

About The Aerobatic Box

The desert town of Borrego Springs, California has been home to IAC Chapter 36 practice and contests since the 1970's.  The town is home to snowbirds in the winter months, and as such, the tourist season is at its height from November through February.

The demographics of this location have an impact on the availability of the aerobatic box.  It is very important that all pilots understand the provisions of the aerobatic box waiver as there are restrictions governing its availability and use.  The FAA waiver for the aerobatic box is held by Chapter 36.

Waiver Provisions
Use of the box for practice is limited to current Chapter 36 members.
Use of the box during a scheduled contest or coaching event includes registered participants.
The box may only be used after it is opened with Flight Services, and it may only be opened when it is available (see below).
All pilots who intend to use the box must read, sign, and abide by the current box rules as established by the Chapter 36 Board of Directors.

Box Availability
General Practice

The box is available on alternate weekends from February through November and any weekday (restricted to 46 days up to a total of 46 total weekdays per year).  Specific start and stop times are specified within the waiver.  Only current Chapter 36 members are authorized to open or use the the box for practice.

Professional Coaching
